Police appeal for witnesses following serious assault in Maghera

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) are appealing for information after a serious assault took place in the early hours of Monday morning, 2nd June, in the Crew Road area of Maghera.
According to authorities, the incident occurred shortly after 1am, when a man reportedly entered a residential property and violently assaulted a male occupant using a baseball bat and his fists.
Detective Sergeant Robinson provided details of the attack, stating:
“Shortly after 1am, it was reported that a man entered a house in the Crew Road area and used a baseball bat to assault a male occupant, striking him around the head.
“He then proceeded to assault the man with his fists, again striking him around the head. The victim was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment for injuries to his ear, head, chest and face.”
A female occupant was present at the time of the attack but was not physically harmed. Nonetheless, the police have acknowledged the traumatic nature of the incident.
“This was an extremely distressing incident, and our enquiries are ongoing this morning to establish the circumstances,” Detective Sergeant Robinson added.
