Police appeal for information following reported assault in Ballymena

Police in Ballymena have launched an appeal for information after receiving a report of an assault involving a group of men in the Orkney Drive area of Ballykeel on Thursday night.


Officers responded to the call shortly before 10pm on 24 July, but upon arrival at the scene, no individuals were present and no offences were immediately detected.



A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that officers remained in the area for a period following the initial report. However, no arrests were made and the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident remain unclear.


Police are now urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has any relevant information, to come forward.



“Police received a report of an assault involving a number of men in the Orkney Drive area shortly before 10pm yesterday evening, Thursday 24th July. Officers attended the scene, however, no one was present in the area, and no offences were detected.”


The PSNI added that enquiries are continuing, and community support could prove vital in clarifying what occurred.
