Police appeal after car crashes through telegraph pole and ends up in Ballymena field

A police investigation is under way after a car left the road, struck a telegraph pole and came to rest in a field near Ballymena, forcing the closure of a local road for several hours.

The single-vehicle collision happened on the Crebilly Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, bringing down a telegraph pole and overhead utility cables.

The damage meant the road had to be closed while the scene was made safe and the fallen infrastructure was dealt with.

Driver escaped injury

Police said they received a report of the collision at approximately 5.45am on Sunday, 12 July.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle in a field after it had collided with a telegraph pole.

The driver was spoken to at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.

Police seeking witnesses

The side of the tree bore the brunt of the vehicle after mounting the grass verge before it hit the telegraph pole.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are continuing.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have information that could assist their investigation, to come forward.
