With two storms in one weekend, it was a challenging time for trampolines in County Antrim as Storm Malik and Storm Corrie moved through.
On Saturday morning, 29 January, a trampoline, which is understood to have been secured by chain at Smyths Toy Store, Braid Water Retail Park, broke loose and was carried by by strong winds into the River Braid.
Thanks to the help of the Community Rescue Service (CRS), volunteer team members ‘bounced’ in to remove the trampoline out of the river.

A spokesperson for the CRS commented:
“Whilst training in Ballymena on Sunday, we were asked to recover a trampoline which had blown into the river.
“We were happy to help and the team quickly recovered it, lifted it over the concrete wall and secured it in the adjacent car park for the owner to retrieve.

“Not our usual water rescue but, as an obstruction in the river it was a hazard to wildlife and possible water users (kayakers etc). It could have jammed under the bridge downstream and formed a blockage.”
