Crews from Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) were tasked on Sunday morning (July 3) after a calf fell into an outside slurry pit at a local farm outside Rasharkin.

The incident was attended by crews from Ballymena and Kilrea stations, along with the Large Animal Rescue Team from Omagh, and the Specialist Rescue Team from Belfast.

Station Commander Alan Barr from Ballymena District praised the efforts and teamwork of all involved.

He was pleased to report that the rescue was successful and that the calf was reunited with its mum for a well-earned drink.
