MUSIC SPEAKS | Lockdown project turns into debut EP for Ahoghill teen

Ballymena Academy pupil, Reuben Allen (13), has released his first 3 track EP today, titled ‘Music Speaks’.

The teenager decided to take full advantage of life in lockdown over the last few months, as he set about writing and producing his own songs in his Ahoghill home studio.

“Music Speaks” comprises three songs inspired by the first trip that Reuben was planning to make after lockdown restrictions were eased - a visit to the White Rocks Beach, Portrush.

Talking to Love Ballymena, Reuben said:

“During lockdown I found an escape in creating music, something I really enjoy doing. I was messing around with some guitar and piano riffs and I challenged myself to come up with content for an EP. I even roped my younger brother in to the project by getting him to do the artwork.

“The songs themselves are summer chill out vibe which we all needed a bit of this year. As a family we love the White Rocks and had spent some time up there. The music was inspired by our trips to the beach and time spent round the campfire, watching the sunsets and sleepy car journeys home!”

‘Music Speaks’ is available to listen to now on all music streaming platforms including Spotify, and Apple Music, and also on Reuben’s Instagram page.

You can find Reuben on social media and keep up to date on his musical journey!
