Multi-million pound transformation plans revealed for hotel in Co Antrim

A County Antrim hotel is set to be completely transformed with a planning application submitted in recent weeks to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, revealing the extent of the proposed redevelopment of the site.

The Hilton Hotel Templepatrick was acquired by Antrim-based Loughview Leisure Group in 2021, further enhancing the groups offering which includes Belfast’s Ten Square Hotel, Chimney Corner in Newtownabbey, and Loughshore Hotel in Carrickfergus.

It is understood the initial £5m redesign and refurbishment programme of the hotel and site will, upon completion, see it rebranded as a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, the first in Northern Ireland, and one of the most exclusive brands in the Hilton Portfolio.

Loughview Group are seeking planning approval for the exciting proposal that would see a new 60 suite extension (including a ground floor function room and the creation of a new luxurious spa and enhanced leisure facilities), a conservatory extension to the existing hotel, and around 44 lodged and 44 apartments in two blocks.

Plans are also included for a number of shepherds huts/log cabins (glamping pods), with associated countryside estate outdoor activities and associated car parking and landscaping. Also, a general manager's lodge.

The hotel and golf club at Hilton Templepatrick are expected to remain open without disruption throughout the duration of the rebrand.
