Motorists reminded 20p per hour parking resumes in Harryville from Monday 7 December

If you’re out and about in Ballymena next week, don’t forget that the temporary period of free parking in the Harryville Pay and Display Car Park comes to an end on Monday 7 December.

In order to support local businesses impacted during roadworks in the area, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council was delighted to be able to pause parking charges at the Henry Street site from the middle of October.

Now that the temporary arrangement has come to an end, it will still cost you just 20 pence to park there for an hour.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Peter Johnston, reminded motorists that charges will automatically apply for parking from Monday 7 December.

“In preparation for the closure of Larne Street and the tightening of restrictions in Northern Ireland in October, Council wanted to support traders in Harryville by offering shoppers a temporary period of free parking and to help facilitate delivery drivers who may not have been able to get close access to businesses.

“We continue to support local traders and we know visitors will still be able to enjoy giving their backing to the community.

“The Harryville area has an abundance of creative and innovative businesses who need supported at this time and we would like to assure people that all our town centres are safe to visit. When the current restrictions on retail and hospitality come to an end, we look forward to seeing our citizens safely supporting our business community.”
