A motorcyclist remains in a critical condition in hospital following a serious road traffic collision in Larne on Sunday afternoon.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and footage after a motorcycle and a van were involved in a collision in the Circular Road area of the town.
The incident occurred shortly before midday and prompted an emergency response from police and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.
Crash happened on Circular Road
Sergeant McBride said officers received a report of the collision at around 12pm on Sunday, June 21.
Emergency services attended the scene, where the motorcyclist was treated before being taken to hospital.
Police confirmed the rider remains in a critical condition.
Sergeant McBride said:
“We received a report at around 12pm on Sunday, 21st June of a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a van in the Circular Road area.
“Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The motorcyclist was subsequently taken on to hospital and remains in a critical condition.”
The collision resulted in the temporary closure of the Circular Road Roundabout while emergency services dealt with the incident and initial investigations were carried out.
The road has since reopened to traffic.
Police seek witnesses and dash-cam footage
Detectives are now working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from motorists who were travelling in the area around the time of the crash and may have captured footage on dash-cams or other recording devices.
Sergeant McBride added:
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone with information, including dash-cam or other footage, to contact police on the 101 number, quoting reference 595 of 21/06/26.”

The investigation remains ongoing as officers seek to piece together the events leading up to the collision and determine exactly what happened on one of Larne’s busiest routes.
