A man who died following a single-vehicle collision in Caledon at the weekend has been formally named by police, as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident and a suspect remains in custody.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that the victim was Emmet Potter, who lost his life after the collision in the Derrycourtney Road area on Saturday evening, 25 April.

The fatal incident has prompted an active investigation by specialist officers, with police confirming that one individual arrested in connection with the case remains in custody as enquiries continue.

The confirmation of Mr Potter’s identity brings a stark focus to the human impact of the collision, as officers work to establish exactly what led to the crash and whether any further action may follow.

Investigation continues with suspect in custody

Detectives from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit are continuing detailed enquiries into the circumstances of the single-vehicle collision, which occurred on a rural stretch of road in the Caledon area.

As part of those enquiries, one person was arrested and remains in police custody. Officers have not disclosed further details regarding the individual or the nature of the arrest, but have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.

The presence of a person in custody signals that police are treating the circumstances of the collision as requiring further scrutiny beyond a routine road traffic investigation.

Appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage

Investigators are now urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist their enquiries, particularly those who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured relevant digital footage, including dashcam recordings, to make contact as soon as possible.

Members of the public with information are asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1706 25/04/26.
