Man in his 30s sadly dies following single-vehicle collision in Co Antrim

A man in his thirties has sadly died following a single-vehicle collision in County Antrim on Friday evening.


Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Green Road area of Ballyclare at approximately 6.45pm on Friday, June 26, after reports that a black Audi A5 had crashed and overturned.


Police officers attended alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.



Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.


Police investigation underway


Detective Inspector Stewart, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision remain ongoing.


He said:


“Police received a report at around 6.45pm on Friday of a black Audi A5 car which had crashed and overturned in the Green Road area.


“Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended, however, sadly the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.”



The Green Road was closed for a period on Friday evening to allow collision investigators to examine the scene and carry out enquiries.


The road has since fully reopened to traffic.


Appeal for dash-cam footage and witnesses


Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have information that could assist investigators to come forward.


Officers are particularly keen to hear from motorists who were travelling in the Green Road area around the time of the collision and may have captured relevant footage on dash-cams or other recording devices.



Detective Inspector Stewart added:


“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any information which could assist with our investigation – including dash-cam or other footage – contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1619 of 26/06/26.”


The death marks another tragic loss on Northern Ireland’s roads and investigators are continuing work to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
