Man arrested after cash seized from car stopped near Ballymena and drugs recovered in Lisburn

A 35-year-old man was arrested after police stopped and searched a vehicle in the Lisnevenagh Road area near Ballymena on Thursday, 24 September, leading to the seizure of a large amount of cash and a subsequent drugs search in Lisburn.
Police said the vehicle had been located after officers received a report of it being driven erratically in the Frosses Road area of Ballymoney.
Cash and car seized
Inspector McGillan said:
“Officers from our Local Policing Team were deployed after receiving a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the Frosses Road area of Ballymoney.
“The vehicle was located and stopped in the Lisenvenagh Road area a short time later. A large amount of cash was seized following a subsequent search of the vehicle. The car was also seized.
“The driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property.”
Further search in Lisburn
Police said the investigation then extended to a property in Lisburn, where officers recovered a quantity of drugs.
Inspector McGillan continued:
“Under guidance from our Economic Crime Unit, officers from our Tactical Support Group later recovered a quantity of drugs following a search of a property in Lisburn. The man was further arrested on a number of drug-related offences including possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class A controlled drug.
“Following interview, he was released on bail to allow for further enquiries.”

“Detectives from our Organised Crime Branch will continue to protect communities from the harm of illegal drugs. We would appeal to anyone who has information about suspected drugs activity in their area to call us on 101. Your information could make a difference.”
