Male arrested after riding scrambler dangerously on footpath narrowly missing pedestrians

Police in Ballymena have issued an appeal after a male riding a scrambler bike on a busy footpath in the Galgorm Road area of the town, narrowly missed injuring multiple pedestrians on Sunday morning (31st March).


Local officers described the actions of the male as dangerous and reckless.



A police spokesperson commented:


"Police are appealing for witnesses or dash cam footage in relation to an incident this morning on the Galgorm Road around 09:55 am.


"Whilst conducting routine patrols of the Ballymena area, Police observed a male riding an electric scrambler dangerously on a busy footpath close to the train station on the Galgorm Road.



"The male attempted to make off before officers quickly caught up with him and arrested him for a number of offences including Failing To Stop, Dangerous Driving, Driving With No Licence and Driving With No Insurance.


"The rider narrowly avoided injuring multiple pedestrians on the pavement with his reckless driving."
