Members of Lisnamurrican Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) have proudly presented a cheque for £15,000 to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, marking a major fundraising achievement during the club’s 85th anniversary year.

A group of club members — Stuart, Claire, Alexis, Ruth and Rachel — travelled to the charity’s headquarters in Lisburn to formally present the donation and meet the Air Ambulance NI team behind the life-saving service.

The impressive total was raised throughout 2025 via a series of community fundraising events, including a standout challenge in which 19 members completed a skydive in support of the cause — a charity described by the club as being “very close” to both its members and the wider rural community.

A spokesperson for Lisnamurrican YFC said:

“As part of our 85th year celebrations our members worked hard running various events, not forgotting about out 19 members who took part in a skydive, to raise money for a charity very close to us as club and the rural community!

“In total we raised a whopping £15,000 towards Air Ambulance NI. An achievement we are very proud of as a club.

“It was fantastic to speak to members of the Air Ambulance NI team today, and hear that our donation will help to run the helicopter for 2 full days!

“Thank you to everyone who donated during the course of 2025 - we can’t thank you enough!”

For a volunteer-led charity that receives no direct government funding, donations of this scale can make an immediate and tangible difference.

Air Ambulance NI operates a critical emergency service across Northern Ireland, delivering rapid medical care to people experiencing life-threatening trauma, often in rural and hard-to-reach locations.

Damien McAnespie, Fundraising Manager at Air Ambulance NI, praised the club’s commitment and community spirit:

“We are truly humbled by the generosity of Lisnamurrican Young Farmers Club, who have raised an outstanding £15,000 for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland as part of their 85th year celebrations.

“Their commitment to supporting life-saving care in our communities has been remarkable, and we were especially inspired by their 19 members who took part in a skydive to help achieve this incredible total.

“It’s the passion and drive of supporters like these young farmers that make it possible for us to continue our vital work across the province.”

The donation will fund the operation of the Air Ambulance helicopter for two full days, underlining the real-world impact of grassroots fundraising and the continued role of Young Farmers’ Clubs in supporting rural life and essential services.
