Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling launch gripping new true crime podcast on BBC Sounds

BBC podcast Murder They Wrote

Murder They Wrote with Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling is a new weekly podcast from BBC Radio 5 Live unravelling the stories of history’s most atrocious criminals.

Each episode, true crime connoisseurs, broadcaster Laura Whitmore and comedian Iain Stirling choose a new despicable criminal and tell the story of their outrageous crimes. From murder to blackmail, fraud to kidnapping, and brainwashing to catfishing, the podcast will explore some of the most wicked characters from history.

Whether it’s the dentist-turned-hitman with a penchant for the dramatic, the kidnapper with a strange hiding place for his victims, or the 24-hour marriage that ended after a deadly honeymoon stroll, listeners will be gripped as Laura and Iain unravel the motives behind these cases.

The duo will take turns to share a new subject on the podcast each week, delving into the darkest details, while the other follows the twists and turns and jaw-dropping moments, as they hear the cases revealed for the first time.

Laura Whitmore said:

“I’m so excited to bring our true crime obsession to BBC Sounds. I love the psychology of it all, getting into people’s mindsets and finding out what makes them tick. In our new podcast on BBC Sounds, Iain and I will take it in turns to surprise each other with tales of historical true crime cases that are sure to make the hairs on the back on your neck stand on end.”

Iain Stirling said:

“If, like us, you’re curious about how a honeymoon turned into a horror story, or the curious case of the hitman dentist, then this is the podcast for you. Join us as we dive right into the past and encounter some of the darkest criminals in history.”
