Larne home ransacked after burglars force entry through front door

A home in Larne was ransacked after intruders forced their way inside during a burglary on Wednesday evening.


Detectives are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage following the incident in the Main Street area of Larne.


Police received a report of the burglary shortly after 10.15pm on Wednesday, July 1.



Officers who attended the scene discovered damage had been caused to the property’s front door before access was gained to the interior of the house, which had been extensively searched and ransacked.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said officers believe the burglary took place at around 9pm.


Investigators are now keen to hear from anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the Main Street area around that time.


Police are also appealing to motorists with dashcam footage, homeowners with CCTV systems, and businesses operating security cameras in the area to review any recordings which may assist enquiries.



Detective Sergeant Crothers said:


“Officers attended and discovered that damage had been caused to the front door of the property and access had been gained to the inside which had been ransacked.


“It is believed that the burglary took place at around 9pm and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at that time, or to anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with enquiries, to contact detectives.”
