Five members of Kells & Connor Young Farmers Club (YFC) have completed an impressive long-distance cycling challenge, raising thousands of pounds for a Northern Ireland children’s charity.
The group — Andrew Millar, Alex Millar, Adam Lyttle, James Fullerton and Zoe McIlroy — took on the “Tour de Kells” challenge, cycling from Kells, Co Antrim to Kells, Co Meath and back again over two days on 20 and 21 September 2025.
Covering a demanding total distance of 206 miles, the endurance ride tested both physical stamina and mental resilience, but the effort proved worthwhile as the challenge raised £3,500 for Angel Wishes, the club’s chosen charity.

Angel Wishes was established in memory of Helen and Brian Kerr and provides support to children in Northern Ireland who are battling cancer-related conditions.
The organisation is run entirely by volunteers, with 100 per cent of funds raised going directly towards providing special treats, trips and memorable experiences for children and their families during extremely difficult times.
The charity focuses on creating moments of joy and lasting memories, recognising the emotional impact that serious illness can have on young people and their loved ones.

Representatives from Kells & Connor YFC were delighted to formally present a cheque for £3,500 to Angel Wishes last week, marking the culmination of months of preparation, fundraising and community support.
The club also paid tribute to the generosity of those who contributed, thanking everyone who donated, helped organise the challenge or supported the cyclists along the route.
The achievement highlights the strong tradition of community involvement and charitable fundraising within the Young Farmers’ movement, as well as the willingness of young people to take on demanding challenges for causes close to their hearts.
