Expansion plans for Uform kitchen manufacturer in Toomebridge

Mid Ulster District Council’s planning department is currently considering an application to extend a Toomebridge kitchen manufacturer’s premises.


Lodged by agent ARCEN on behalf of applicant UFORM the application seeks to extend the company’s existing factory to provide an additional storage/dispatch area and replace an existing w.c. portable cabin with a new w.c. block at 9 Creagh Business Park, Toomebridge.



According to the application form the 0.96 hectare site is currently used as the businesses dispatch warehouse and office.


At present, the site has 16,186m2 of usable floor space. Should the expansion be permitted, it will gain a further 4,534m2 of floor space with 4,500m2 of the expansion designated for storage and 34m2 designated for ancillary use.


Currently, the site sees 85 employees and 25 other attend on a daily basis. Should this development be approved it is anticipated a further five employees and two other people would attend the site on a daily basis taking the total number of people to attend the site to 117.



The number of vehicles attending the site is also expected to increase by a total of six, with five staff, two visitor and one goods vehicle expected at the site on top of the 105 vehicles attending at present.


A transport assessment form notes the required parking for this development can “easily be facilitated within the development and Uform will ensure that no parking will be allowed anywhere on the Creagh Industrial Park Estate road”.


In an effort to promote alternative modes of travel a travel co-ordinator will be appointed to assist employees set up a car sharing scheme once the COVID-19 pandemic has eased and dedicated and secure cycle stands will be housed within the curtilage to encourage employees to consider cycling to work.


Submitted and validated on Monday, September 13, the application will be advertised until Tuesday, October 12.
