Dog lovers are in for a treat this spooky season as Dogs Trust Ballymena hosts a special ‘Howl-oween Experience Day’ on Saturday 25th October.

The event, running from 10am to 12pm, offers visitors a rare behind-the-scenes look at life inside the charity’s rehoming centre — home to around 70 dogs currently being cared for by the Ballymena team and its dedicated volunteer foster carers.

Tickets are free and can be booked via Eventbrite, but spaces are expected to go quickly for what promises to be a spook-tacular morning.

Visitors will have the chance to meet some of the dogs looking for new homes, chat with staff over a cuppa, and even help create enrichment activities designed to support the dogs during the often stressful firework season.

Kirsty Mark, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Ballymena, said:

“We are so excited to be opening our doors to provide dog lovers with a unique doggy experience on this Halloween Experience Day.

“Attendees will be given a behind-the-scenes tour of our centre, enjoy a cuppa with staff, and, of course, the stars of the show will be the boo-tiful dogs that are in our care, waiting to be adopted.

“Visitors can also assist staff with creating fun enrichment activities for our dogs for the firework season. We look forward to welcoming visitors who are interested in our work, our dogs and are keen to learn more about life at Dogs Trust Ballymena.

“We promise a fur-ightfully fun morning that’ll lift your spirits, and maybe even make you fall under the spell of one of our adorable residents.”

The Ballymena centre, which features 50 kennels, a training barn, woodland walks and a large exercise field, provides a safe and stimulating environment for dogs awaiting their forever homes.

Dogs Trust Ballymena is open to the public five days a week, and visitors can drop in without an appointment to meet dogs available for adoption, seek advice, or begin the rehoming process.

While the centre team will try to introduce as many dogs as possible during the Howl-oween Experience Day, staff note that not all dogs will be available to meet on the day — some may already be reserved, undergoing medical care or training, or simply settling into their new environment.
