Help is at hand during continued winter weather conditions

Alan Barr, Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) Braid candidate has reached out to the community on Sunday to offer help to anyone needing support during the ongoing freezing conditions.

While the Department for Infrastructure continues to salt main driving routes throughout the province, many residents have been struggling particularly in rural areas and local housing estates.

Alan said:

"As the sub-zero temperatures and icy conditions are likely to last until next Friday, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council are providing self-help grit piles at the following locations:

  • Waveney Road (Beside Recycling Bring Sites)

  • Broughshane Community Centre Car Park

  • Portglenone Community Centre Car Park

  • Ahoghill Community Centre Car Park

  • Cullybackey Community Centre Car Park

  • Kells and Connor Community Centre Car Park

  • Clough Playing Fields Car Park

  • Greenhill Pub, Cargan

"If anyone needs any assistance with gritting their paths etc., please get in touch either by instant messaging me (Alan Barr - UUP) or on 07860794802.

"Ice can be reported directly to DfI by using their online portal.  Salt bins, salt piles and refills can also be applied for using this portal:

"If you cannot access the portal, please let me know using the contacts above and I can do it on your behalf."
