The Northern Trust is holding a ‘First Dose Finale’ Day on Saturday 25 September to bring to conclusion the first dose phase of their COVID-19 Vaccination Programme.
On Saturday 25 September, for one day only, the Mass Vaccination Centre in Ballymena will open from 9am to 5pm for anyone eligible, who is still to receive a first dose, to walk in.
That day will also conclude the mobile vaccination clinics with the final one of these taking place in Hawthorns Adult Centre in Carrickfergus from 10am – 5pm.
The Trust will be administering the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine and those attending should bring personal ID. This can include passport, driving licence, bus pass, carer’s card or a document that confirms your name and address such as an electric/gas/phone bill.
Arrangements will be made to provide second doses in eight weeks time for all who attend.
Sinead O’Kane, Vaccination Programme Lead for the Northern Trust, said:
“I would encourage as many people as possible to get vaccinated, around 80% of hospital inpatients are unvaccinated and sadly there are still people losing their lives to this virus. The vaccine is the best form of protection.
“We have now been delivering first doses since December of last year so this is one final chance for anyone who wishes to avail of the vaccine to take it up. There is no requirement to book so we hope to see as many people as possible on Saturday.”
Opportunities for first doses will still be available through community pharmacies who will provide the Moderna vaccine. The Mass Vaccination Centre will continue to provide second doses on a Wednesday from 9am – 5pm (closing for lunch from 12.30-1pm).
The conclusion of this phase of the programme will allow the Trust to divert resources to the COVID-19 booster programme which is due to start at the end of the month with care home staff and residents.
