Dramatic rescue operation mounted on Co Antrim coast

A rescue operation was mounted in County Antrim on Sunday afternoon (5 June) after a person is understood to have fallen.

Coastguard Rescue Teams from Coleraine and Ballycastle, were tasked to the cliffs at Fairhead. Northern Ireland Ambulance Service also attended the scene.


Rescue Teams mounted an operation to retrieve the casualty and requested the assistance of Rescue Helicopter R199 from Prestwick, Scotland.

It is understood the casualty was transported to Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast by R199.

The extent of the person’s injuries are unknown at this time.
