Don’t miss paw-some fun this weekend as Barket returns to The Junction, Antrim
Thousands of visitors and their four-legged companions are expected to descend on Antrim this weekend as one of Northern Ireland’s biggest pet-friendly events returns for a third year.
Barket will take over The Junction Retail and Leisure Park on Saturday, July 4, transforming the popular destination into a celebration of pets, animal lovers and local independent businesses.
Running from 11am until 4pm, the free event promises a packed programme featuring more than 50 independent stalls and exhibitors, live demonstrations, specialist advice, expert talks, family entertainment and plenty of treats for both humans and their furry friends.
Families attending can also look forward to appearances throughout the day from much-loved children’s characters Bluey, PAW Patrol and Sonic the Hedgehog, adding to what organisers say will be a fun-filled day out for all ages.
A growing favourite for pet lovers across Northern Ireland
Now firmly established in the summer calendar at The Junction, Barket has grown into one of the region’s best-known pet events, attracting visitors from across Northern Ireland in search of new products, expert advice and opportunities to support local animal organisations.
The event combines the atmosphere of a specialist market with the energy of a live family event, bringing together pet businesses, charities, trainers, experts and makers under one roof.

Some fur-some visitors to last year’s successful Barket
Visitors can browse everything from premium pet food and gourmet treats to eco-friendly toys, handmade accessories, bespoke collars and wellness products.
Among the returning favourites this year are The Woofternoon Tea Co, Murphy & Bailey, The Suddy Dog and Haus of Hank, alongside dozens of additional exhibitors showcasing products and services aimed at pets and their owners.
Chris Flynn, Centre Director at The Junction, said the event had become one of the highlights of the year for the retail and leisure destination.
“This is the third year of hosting Barket at The Junction, and it’s always one of our most heart-warming and fun-filled events,” he said.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring people together, celebrate the bond between people and their pets, and raise support for some incredible animal charities and sanctuaries.”
Expert talks, demonstrations and practical advice
Beyond the shopping and entertainment, this year’s event places a strong emphasis on education and responsible pet ownership.
One of the headline additions for 2026 is a practical Dog First Aid course led by experienced veterinary surgeon Eimear Gillespie MRCVS.
Designed for dog owners and animal lovers, the training session will cover essential emergency skills including CPR, bandaging techniques and how to check a dog’s vital signs.
Places for the first aid training must be booked in advance due to expected demand.
Daisy Dog Academy will also be sharing expert advice through a series of free talks throughout the day, covering topics including mantrailing, how dogs use their powerful sense of smell and trick training workshops for owners looking to teach their pets new skills.
Visitors will also have the chance to watch live agility displays and scent-detection demonstrations from local canine specialists The Nose Zone, Whitestone K9 and the local Crufts Rally Team.
Pampering, pet care and memorable keepsakes

A range of practical pet services will also be available throughout the event.
Claire McConaghy, known as The Pet Nurse, will be providing services including nail trimming, microchipping, identification checks and ear cleaning.
For owners wanting to capture memories from the day, The Doggy Photo Studio will be offering professional pet photography sessions, while the Paw Print Clay Workshop will give visitors the opportunity to create personalised keepsakes featuring their pet’s paw print.
Recognising that large events can sometimes be overwhelming for animals, organisers have also arranged a shaded calm area complete with drinking water for dogs needing a break from the excitement.
Celebrating local businesses and the bond between people and pets
Organisers say Barket has become much more than a shopping event, helping to showcase the growing number of specialist pet businesses operating locally while bringing together a community of owners who share a love of animals.
Thomas Ferris, Managing Director at Urban Events, said the event continued to grow in popularity because it offered something for every type of pet owner.
“Barket is one of our favourite events of the year. It is a high-energy day that showcases the amazing pet products, expertise and services available locally,” he said.
“There is always a brilliant atmosphere, and whether you are looking to shop, learn something new or simply enjoy a day out with your pet, there is plenty to discover.”
With thousands expected through the gates once again, organisers are preparing for another busy day celebrating the special relationship between people and their pets while supporting local businesses, charities and animal organisations along the way.
