Council is delighted to invite you to attend our COP26 Regional Climate Roadshow event to be held online on Monday 8 November 2021 from 10am to 12 noon.

This is a joint collaboration between Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, and is aimed at raising awareness and understanding of climate change among our residents and businesses.

What is COP26?

For nearly three decades the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits – called COPs – which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’. In that time, climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority.

This year marks the 26th annual summit. With the UK as President, COP26 is taking place in Glasgow.

World leaders have arrived in Scotland, alongside tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses and citizens for twelve days of talks.

The COP26 Regional Climate Roadshow event on Monday 8 November will cover four themes:

1. Understanding Climate Change

2. Reimagining Energy and Fuel – a Local Perspective

3. What Councils are Doing to Address Climate Change

4. Supporting and Leading Behavioural Change

A complement of key speakers will provide updates on emerging climate science, the local business perspective, how Council is responding to the climate change agenda and how you can get involved.

Key speakers include the Met Office, Climate NI, Rivers Agency, GenComm, Energia, Natural World Products, Bryson Recycling, MyNI, Mayors and Council officers.

This event will coincide with the ‘Adaption, Loss and Damage’ themed day at the Glasgow COP26 Conference (1-12 November 2021), which focusses on delivering the practical solutions needed to adapt to climate impacts and address loss and damage. The event will be livestreamed to the COP26 Conference in Glasgow on 8 November 2021.

To join us, please visit the EventBrite page and register to secure your space. An email containing the joining link will be sent to you in advance of the event on 8 November.
