Resurfacing work has officially commenced at the Knockan Road car park in Broughshane, a move welcomed by Ulster Unionist Party councillor for Braid, Alan Barr, who has long championed better access to local play facilities.

The works are set to significantly improve access to the popular play park, making it safer and more convenient for families to visit.

Councillor Alan Barr commented:

“One of my priorities as the Ulster Unionist Party councillor for Braid is to improve wellbeing. One aspect of this is ensuring that children have adequate places to play.”

He continued:

“Consequently, I campaigned to have the Knockan Road car park in Broughshane resurfaced to improve access for families to the play park.”

Construction crews began work this morning with drainage system repairs, which will be followed by laying fresh tarmac to complete the resurfacing.

Councillor Barr added:

“I am pleased to see that works have started on this resurfacing.”

The project forms part of ongoing community improvements supported by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, with a focus on enhancing public spaces and promoting family wellbeing.

Once complete, the refurbished car park will offer safer, more reliable access to one of the village’s most valued recreational areas, particularly benefitting parents with young children.
