Click Energy customers across Northern Ireland are set to see their electricity bills rise by 3.5% from 1 November 2025, with the average household expected to pay around £40 more per year.
The increase will affect both credit and prepayment customers, impacting around 33,000 consumers across the region.
According to the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland, the change means that a typical Click Energy credit customer’s annual bill will increase from approximately £1,141 to £1,171, while a typical prepayment customer’s yearly cost will rise to around £1,181.
Rising wholesale costs behind increase
Raymond Gormley, Head of Energy at the Consumer Council, said the increase reflects broader market pressures:
“From 1 November, a typical Click Energy credit customer will see their annual electricity bill increase from around £1,141 to £1,171 and a typical prepayment customer will see their annual costs increase to around £1,181.
“While this is unwelcome news for around 33,000 Click Energy consumers, the main drivers for this are rising wholesale and market related charges.”
Mr Gormley encouraged households to explore ways of managing their energy spending:
“We would encourage consumers to think about the way they pay for their energy and see if they can reduce their energy costs. Being on a standard tariff and paying on receipt of a bill is the most expensive way to pay for your electricity.
“Switching payment option, changing billing method, or even switching supplier may save you money.”
