Cambridge House school pays tribute to former member of staff

Staff at Cambridge House Grammar School in Ballymena have paid tribute to a former colleague who recently passed away.

Hilary Gwynne Robinson, better known to past students as 'Miss Nesbitt', was from Portglenone and taught Chemistry at the local school for 22 years. She sadly passed away on 27 September 2022 at Brookelands Nursing Home in Antrim.

Paying tribute, a spokesperson for Cambridge House Grammar School said:

"We were saddened to hear of the death on 27 September of Mrs Hilary Robinson, best known to most of her pupils as Miss Nesbitt.

Mrs Robinson was educated at Cambridge House Grammar School, where she was Head Girl in 1956, and Queen's University Belfast, where she studied Chemistry.

"She was one of Miss Owens' last appointments when she joined the staff of Cambridge House in 1969 as Teacher of Chemistry, and was also involved in the School's Guide Company. Mrs Robinson retired as Head of Chemistry in 1991 after 22 years on the staff.

"We extend our condolences to Mrs Robinson’s family circle."
