Well-known Ballymena businessman John Wilson has sadly passed away.


Tributes have been paid following the sudden passing of well-known Ballymena businessman John Wilson, a respected figure in the local motor trade and a familiar face in the community.


Mr Wilson, who lived at Ardnabreen on the Galgorm Road, helped lead the family-run vehicle dealership Wilson’s of Rathkenny alongside his brother Darren.



The business was founded by their father, the late John Wilson Snr, and has long been associated with the area’s automotive trade.


News of his death on Saturday, March 7 has prompted an outpouring of sympathy for his family and those who knew him through the business and the wider Ballymena community.


A funeral notice published by DJM Robinson & Son states:


“Wilson. March 7th 2026 suddenly at his home, Ardnabreen, 112 Galgorm Road, Ballymena, John, dearly loved husband of Marjorie, devoted father of Amy and John, beloved son of the late John and Mary, much loved brother of Marlene, Helen, Sharon and Darren, a very dear son in law, brother in law, uncle and nephew.”



Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. The family home is private.


The notice adds that donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, may be made to Chest, Heart & Stroke, care of D.J.M. Robinson & Son, 121 Culcrum Road, Cloughmills, BT44 9DT.


“Lovingly remembered.


“The day Thou gavest Lord is ended”.”



Donations in memory will be gratefully accepted for eight weeks following the funeral, with further details on how to donate available via the funeral director.


As word of Mr Wilson’s passing spreads, sympathy continues to be expressed to his wife Marjorie, children Amy and John, and the wider Wilson family circle.
