Popular UK discount retailer B&M has announced the upcoming launch of a brand-new store at The Junction Retail and Leisure Park in Antrim, bringing a welcome economic boost to the area with the creation of 12 new jobs.

The new outlet will open its doors to shoppers at 8am on Saturday 16 August, taking over the former Homebase unit which offers a total floor area of 22,289 square feet, plus a substantial 8,851-square-foot mezzanine level.

The site is undergoing a full-scale internal and external refurbishment ahead of the grand opening.

In addition to the main store, the development includes a dedicated 10,746-square-foot garden centre, offering a wide variety of plants and gardening essentials.

A spokesperson for B&M confirmed that the store will stock a comprehensive range of branded groceries, household goods, health and beauty products, DIY essentials, electricals, toys and seasonal items — all at the competitive prices the chain is known for.

The B&M Store Manager expressed enthusiasm for the move, stating:

“We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome new customers through the door.”

The Junction, already home to major names including Nike, Starbucks and Next, is expected to benefit from increased footfall thanks to the arrival of B&M, with local residents welcoming the enhanced retail offering.

The announcement has been met with optimism in the local business community as another sign of economic growth in the borough, following a series of recent investment and regeneration initiatives in Antrim and Newtownabbey.
