Households across Ballymena and more than 30 surrounding towns are set for another drop in their gas bills, as firmus energy Supply confirms a further double-digit tariff cut from April.

The Newtownabbey-based supplier today (Thursday 5 March 2026) has announced it will reduce domestic tariffs for all customers in the Ten Towns Network area by 10.1% from 1 April 2026 — a move expected to save households an average of over £92 per year.

It marks the third consecutive reduction for customers in just 13 months. firmus energy supply previously lowered its gas tariff by 11.84% in April 2025 and by a further 7.86% last October.

Announcing the latest decrease, Ryan Miskimmin, Sales Director at firmus energy, said:

“As Northern Ireland’s largest gas supplier by volume, we want to provide the best value possible to all our customers by reducing tariffs when possible.

“This is our third consecutive tariff reduction for the Ten Towns Network in the space of a 13-month period. This latest reduction of 10.1%, which follows engagement with the Utility Regulator and the Consumer Council, is sure to be welcomed by our growing number of customers who have made the switch to natural gas.

“Since April last year, our consecutive reductions have decreased our tariffs by 27% with a cumulative saving of around £300 per customer. We know that these savings, coupled with the constant heat and instant hot water that natural gas provides, will be warmly welcomed by customers in the Ten Towns Network.”

The Ten Towns Network covers Antrim, Armagh, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Banbridge, Coleraine, Craigavon (including Lurgan and Portadown), Limavady, Derry/Londonderry and Newry, alongside more than 25 additional towns and villages.

firmus energy Supply currently provides natural gas to over 127,000 customers across Northern Ireland, including more than 74,000 within the Ten Towns Network area.

The company’s tariffs in this network are subject to regulation. The latest decrease follows a formal review process carried out by firmus energy Supply and approved by the Utility Regulator, in consultation with the Department for the Economy and the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland.

By contrast, the Greater Belfast Network area — which includes Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor, Holywood, Donaghadee, Groomsport, Millisle, Newtownards, Carryduff, Comber, Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Larne and East Down — is not subject to the same review process. The company confirmed that tariffs in this area are currently under review.

The announcement comes amid continued scrutiny of household energy costs, with many families closely watching for any relief in monthly outgoings. For Ten Towns customers, the latest reduction builds on what the company says is a cumulative 27% fall in tariffs since April last year.

On 1 November 2024, Yuno Group acquired firmus energy Supply from firmus energy, with the natural gas distribution firm continuing to operate separately as Kinecx Energy.
