A colourful fundraising event at Asda Antrim has raised £358.46 for breast cancer charities, bringing customers and colleagues together to support a cause that has touched the lives of many families.

The store hosted a ‘Spin to Win’ game and merchandise stall as part of Asda’s annual Tickled Pink campaign, with shoppers trying their luck at winning prizes while helping to raise funds and awareness.

But beyond the fundraising total, the event also created opportunities for conversations about breast cancer, including with customers who have experienced the disease and benefited from specialist support.

Personal stories highlight importance of support

Asda Antrim’s Customer and Community Champion, Ashley Ritchie, said the response from shoppers demonstrated the importance of the campaign and the services it supports.

“It was amazing to hear from people who had used Breast Cancer Now and knew first-hand how important and impactful their work is. The stand really attracted people and started conversations, including with a customer who is currently undergoing treatment herself for breast cancer.”

The event took place last weekend, with colleagues wearing pink T-shirts and deely boppers to create a welcoming atmosphere and encourage customers to get involved.

Service Colleague Mary Letch said the campaign was a highlight of the store’s fundraising calendar.

“I love Tickled Pink season in store. It’s a great chance for us to put some pink on and connect with the customers and share conversation to raise awareness and show our support.”

Three decades of breast cancer fundraising

Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has supported breast cancer awareness and fundraising for 30 years, raising more than £100 million to date.

The money supports research, education and services delivered through charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!, helping people affected by breast cancer while encouraging greater awareness of the importance of regular breast checking.

The campaign aims to make checking your breasts, chest or pecs a familiar part of everyday life, encouraging people to recognise what is normal for them and be aware of any changes.

Community generosity makes a difference

The £358.46 raised at Asda Antrim will contribute to the wider Tickled Pink fundraising effort, supporting the charities' work in breast cancer research, awareness and care.

For the store team, the conversations sparked during the event were an important reminder that fundraising is about more than collecting donations. It is also an opportunity to help people feel informed, supported and more confident about looking after their breast health.
