20-year-old TJ Kennedy
A 20-year-old motorcyclist has died in hospital one week after suffering serious injuries in a collision in west Belfast.
TJ Kennedy, from the Poleglass area, was taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Shaws Road on Sunday, July 5.
Police confirmed that he died from his injuries on Saturday evening, July 11, while continuing to receive treatment.
Collision involved car and motorcycle
The collision happened at around 6pm close to the junction of Shaws Road and Greenan.
It involved a blue Volkswagen Touran and a silver Yamaha Tracer motorcycle.
Police officers and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service crews attended the scene before Mr Kennedy was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Police renew appeal for witnesses and footage
Detective Inspector Stewart, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said enquiries were continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of what happened,” he said.
“At approximately 6pm on Sunday, 5th July police received a report of a collision involving a blue Volkswagen Touran and silver Yamaha Tracer in the Shaws Road area, at its junction with Greenan.
“Officers along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended the scene – and Mr Kennedy was taken onward to hospital. No other injuries were reported.”
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam or other footage, to contact officers.
Detective Inspector Stewart added:
