£10m investment approved for Co Antrim with new jobs on the way

A new £10 million warehouse and distribution facility has been approved for County Antrim, with the investment expected to create around 10 jobs and contribute an estimated £2.76 million a year to the local economy.
The development at Houston’s Corner, Newtownabbey, will become a new facility for James Latham Timber PLC, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading importers and distributors of timber and timber-based products.
New warehouse and distribution hub
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Planning Committee has approved plans for the development, which will include a warehouse, ancillary office space, an external yard, HGV facilities and car parking.
The company says the site will provide additional storage and operational capacity to support its future expansion, while its location offers strong transport links across the wider region.
Around 10 new employment opportunities are expected to be created across warehousing, distribution and associated business services. The council says the development is also estimated to generate £2.76 million in annual Gross Value Added (GVA) for the local economy.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan, said:
“I am delighted to welcome James Latham Timber PLC to the Borough and to see this significant £10 million investment progressing at Houston’s Corner. The new facility will provide the additional storage and operational capacity the company needs to support its future expansion, while also delivering tangible benefits for our local economy.”

Company dates back to 1757
Established in 1757, James Latham Timber PLC supplies trade customers across sectors including construction, joinery, retail and manufacturing.
The company currently operates a network of 12 distribution hubs across the UK and Ireland. The approved Houston’s Corner development will add further capacity as the business seeks to support its future growth.
With planning approval now secured, the £10 million project represents a significant new private-sector investment for the Newtownabbey area, with its economic impact expected to extend beyond the jobs created directly at the facility.
