Alliance North Antrim Councillor Patricia O’Lynn has confirmed she will run for the party in the constituency in the upcoming Assembly election.
The Alliance representative, who has been a Ballymena Councillor since 2019, said a number of issues would be her priority throughout the campaign, building on her work as local Councillor in that period.
“When Alliance ran for local council in 2019, some people asked could Alliance really take a seat in North Antrim. Now we have several and are making a real difference in people’s lives in our work on Council,” said Patricia.
“North Antrim has many amazing things, such as our tourism industry, which is the backbone of our local economy. But we need to see increased investment in it, including improved local infrastructure to ensure we have a fit for purpose public transport system which can connect tourists to the North Coast with ease.
“We have farmers and agricultural businesses which are the envy of Northern Ireland but we need to support them to ensure they are not left behind in our transition to a more environmentally-friendly society.
“Instead of focusing on delivery, many North Antrim representatives instead engage in delay and division – pointing the finger of blame and whipping up fear among the electorate.
“As a young female, I believe I can bring a new perspective to politics in North Antrim. I believe in the core Alliance values of bringing people together while delivering positive change for the entire community. If people believe in the same and vote Alliance, they can return an Alliance MLA for North Antrim.”
