The moment of the incident caught on CCTV
Witnesses say it is a miracle that no one was killed or seriously injured after a car was driven at high speed down Queen Street, Ballymena, before it slammed into a traffic island that forced the vehicle onto two wheels. The car crashed through the mini roundabout and came to a stop on the Antrim Road.
A CCTV camera caught the scary seconds as the vehicle hurtled past. Other vehicles stopped - drivers shocked by the fleeting moment they had witnessed.
Police in Ballymena say they received and responded to a report of the road traffic collision in the Queen Street area of the town at around 6:45pm yesterday, Saturday 6th January.
A police spokesperson said:
"Damage was caused to two vehicles during the incident, however there were no reports of any injuries.
"One man aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drug, and dangerous driving.
"He was subsequently released on bail to allow for further police enquiries."
