The Secret Garden café set to open this month in Ballymena

Excitement has been building over the last number of weeks with work going on behind the scenes, as a local family business prepares to branch out on a new venture - The Secret Garden café will soon be opening its doors and will be serving up fresh and delicious food at reasonable prices.

Nestled among the trees and surrounded by water, Ballymena's latest eatery is located in the Ecos Nature Park, an oasis of wildlife close to the heart of Ballymena town centre.

Popular with families, dog walkers and runners, the area offers the perfect place to enjoy nature at it's best with eight kilometres of mostly flat footpath gently lead visitors around 220 acres of parkland that includes maturing woodland, peaceful lake and ponds, grazed meadows and hay meadows.

The Secret Garden will offer the perfect spot to enjoy a breather in peaceful surroundings while enjoying a friendly welcome and food with family or friends.

The Falls family have been trading for over a decade as 'Big Occasions', a Ballymena based family catering business, and in total have garnered over 30 years of experience in hospitality.

Speaking this week to Love Ballymena, Marie-Louise Falls said:

"Over the last weeks we have been working away behind the scenes at the Ecos Centre to be ready to welcome customers to The Secret Garden Café for our mid-October opening.

"As a family we are passionate in going over and beyond ourselves to provide first class service with quality home cooking in a relaxed and welcoming environment."

Marie-Louise continued:

"We are delighted and excited to be opening in the heart of the Ecos Nature Park on the outskirts of Ballymena. Our beautiful location is surrounded by wonderful wildlife with plenty of ducks for the kids to feed! It's also great for cycling, park runs or just to get away from the hustle and bustle.

"The Secret Garden will be the perfect place to take a rest, be refreshed, or maybe even relax in our snug reading corner."

The Secret Garden will be open from 9am to 5pm seven days a week, and the team are also looking forward to providing catering for the state-of-the-art conference facility, based in the Ecos Centre and managed by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. Facilities include meeting rooms suitable for groups of 10 - 24 people while the Lecture Theatre is suitable for larger audiences of up to 110 people.

The Secret Garden is set to open the doors over the next couple of weeks.
