It has been reported this morning that DUP First Minister Paul Givan is set to announce his resignation from the post later today, Thursday 3 February.
Revealed by the BBC’s Nolan Show, the move would effective collapse the power sharing Northern ireland Executive as under it’s terms, deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill will automatically have to also resign.
The DUP have previously warned that it would walk out of the the Executive over the Northern Ireland Protocol arrangements agreed by the UK Government and the European Union in Brexit negotiations.
We will provide further updates on this throughout today.
